Peacock Weather
Camera-shy Fredrico & Fantasio were out
enjoying the warmer temperatures today.
They have been quite vocal lately crying,"Spring is nigh!"
They are getting ready to fan their feathers
wide open to Spring. As am I...

Purple Cauliflower
I found this lovely lavender cauliflower at Whole Foods.
The purple color comes from the same anthocyanins
(a group of antioxidants) found in red cabbage,
red wine, and blood red oranges.
Most nutritious
raw.
Wonderful
in
a salad.

your art
(and eat it, too!)

To Me & You

Love After Love
The time will come,
When with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

(I think the title should be Love And Love,
but it isn't my poem...)

To Life!
A friend of mine found this video gem, and sent it to me today. The 16mm film footage was found, undeveloped, in a dusty, unmarked cardboard box, in a garage in Hancock Park, Los Angeles. I've watched it several times now. In tears. Who knows the fate that awaits our own home videos... (Will they make anyone in the future cry? One can only hope.)

Owl Dream

Last night I dreamed I was in a foreign land,
in a dizzying maze of wonder and chaos.
I was shopping (a recurring theme) in an
outdoor marketplace with intriguing little side roads,
(kind of like Marrakech).
I came upon a cave-like alcove.
An old woman sitting on a bench,
sat up and beckoned me to follow....
down a damp, musty stairwell we went, arriving
in a small room lit by candlelight,
illuminating a myriad of tchotchke owl figurines.
One in particular, caught my eye,
carved out of wood. As I gazed at it,
it blinked, and I realized
it was alive...
The old woman felt familiar, yet
resembled no one I have ever met.
I woke up wondering,
"Did this really happen?"
