duck season

The ducks have been waddling about since February.
The mama has been sitting mostly, and lately nesting down by the stream. Two days ago- on Mother's Day - the ducklings hatched!

Pray they stay safe and enjoy their ducklinghood while they can...

Hazel & Baxter

Hazel & Baxter have been returning to Allen Park every year for the past 15 years. My neighbors swear it is the same pair each year, anyway.  They have been hanging out in and around the stream in front of my place and are getting ready to hatch another batch of ducklings.  Can't wait to meet them!

fine feathered friend

This is a little chicken that lives in my neighborhood. I've known him since he was a baby chick. He goes by the name Wrong Way because his crazy feathered mane obstructs his view and he bumps into things a lot. He is the only Crested Polish chicken in the brood and is treated like an 'ugly duckling', especially by the roosters. He came over today to escape all the drama (and to see me, of course).

Fredrico and Fantasia

Meet Fredrico and Fantasia.  They cruise by every morning to graze on worms and such in my yard and say hello.
