What is Poetry?

when you make talk with words, words--
(freedom and that other word, responsibility,
you can't have one and not the other.)
for words are made of syllables
and syllables, child, are made of air--
and air is so thin-- air is the breath of god....

Delightful Water Universe (Revolting Ideas on Revitalizing the American Dream)

Went to the Premiere of Trent's new movie, The Delightful Water Universe at the Rose Wagner theatre last night. Classic, quirky Trent.  It was interesting to see the familiar landmarks, as it was filmed in my backyard, Salt Lake City. I'm sharing very little of the plot details because, as with most of Trent's movies, I have to think about them for a little while.... They are so odd--delightfully so, and worth the pondering.  I have been to a few premieres but this one was by far the most entertaining. The sideshows made it all the more surreal.

A mariachi band played outside the theatre; yodelers with alp horns performed in the lobby; a barbershop quartet harmonized from the balcony. And then, just before the movie began, a parade of dancers, led by Bigfoot on one side and a samba dancer on the other, shimmied and rocked on to the stage.
