Interesting to learn of the meshing of the rituals! Beltane with its celebration of vitality and renewal at springtime coincides with the Maypole's coloful ribbons and youthful dance. My yoga group celebrates the new moon every month as a time of new beginnings, wishes, and opportunity for transformation: we form a circle with a candle in the middle, dance in turn up to the candle and leave some wonderful bit of nature as an offering (flowers, leaves, branches, fruit, etc.). We then chant together in Sanskrit and dance. The full moon is this coming Saturday, May 9, when I go out to call to my owls!, and the next new moon is Sunday, May 24. Blessings! Margaret
M: Rituals are enriching to the human psyche & soul, I think. Yours sounds interesting. A way of staying grounded in a world where we tend to be out of sync with the natural world and it's rhythms-- and consequently ourselves.

I think Wendy Christianpage taught me in Sunday School... Hilarious and informative!
skipping around a maypole will never quite be the same again...
Ooohhh! This is a good one! :)
My friend had a maypole at her wedding reception, all of her flower girls danced around it. She still has no idea what it symbolizes. Oh the irony....
